I’ve been carrying a torch for Sherlock Holmes since I first got acquainted with him through BBC TV series Sherlock. Thus, when I heard that Sherlock is making his appearance in modern-day New York, I had to check the show out. I got hooked right away and now I’m anticipating the second season this fall!
What makes Elementary stands out from the other Sherlock adaptations are the setting in New York and Doctor Watson acted by Lucy Liu. Who would have thought Watson would be fine as a female character! Not to mention she is asian with sense of style. As an Asian, I’ve always been proud of Asian actors who grace the Hollywood screen especially when they act as normal people. We’ve seen too many Asian actors playing crazy characters or martial art gurus. It’s about time we acknowledge that Asian can do well at being normal too. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more Asian actors in the small screen in the future. Meanwhile, check out Joan Watson’s fashion style in Elementary. Don’t forget to check out the show too! ;)
