Ever since i got bitten by Hunger Games bug I’ve turned into a Dystopian novel fangirl. I’ve read a few of the novels and my top 3 favourites in order of merit are The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. Naturally I’m excited that all 3 of them will be showing on theatre this year.
While reading Maze Runner, there are many parts which were hard to visualise such as the grievers, the porthole, etc. The movie managed to bring all these into life beautifully in a way that fit our acceptance for made-believe reality.
The story might not make much sense, even after reading 3 out of its 4 series I still have some “why?”s. However if you are able to look pass the logic/reasoning and enjoy the movie as it is, the plot is thrilling and keeps you at your toes. The pace is just right and no part feels too slow, unlike Divergent.
If you’ve read the book you’ll noticed quite a chunk of details are left out or changed from the book such as the telepathy between Thomas and Teresa, and toning down of Gally’s viscousness, which is a good decision because it makes the movie seems more realistic and I don’t feel like punching Gally’s face halfway through the story.
Overall, this is one of my favorite movies of the year and I can’t wait to see the next installment! Meanwhile I’ll be looking forward to the next Hunger Games movie. In terms of movie adaptation my favorite rankings are Hunger Games, Maze Runner, Divergent.
